MITCDOIQ Takes on Practice-Inspired Research

Thank you to everyone who has responded to our survey and call for sample collateral. Our foray into practice-based research was inspired by you—specifically your requests to step beyond theoretical best practices and find out what companies and leadership teams are actually doing to manage their data assets.

We began with a call for examples of your best tools and work products. This was followed by a review of information on publicly available websites, especially local and state government agency projects. Finally, we sent surveys to more than 2000 members of the MITCDOIQ community, including everyone that has attended the MITCDOIQ Symposium in the past two years.

We are still accepting survey responses through the end of February. If you did not receive an emailed invitation to take the survey, please send a note to Gjertrud Djupvik ( You can also continue to contribute to our bank of good-practice collateral by sending examples of your tools to Elizabeth Albee ( (Please remove all proprietary or identifying information and, if necessary, get clearance from your compliance team before sharing.)

Dr. Markum Reed of Henderson State University has graciously agreed to review the survey results and provide an analysis of findings. We expect preliminary findings to be available in the March or April edition of this newsletter, with a full report to come at the MITCDOIQ Symposium in July.
