Todd James, Sr. Vice President, Fidelity Investments

Todd James is a Senior Vice President at Fidelity Investments focused on driving digital transformation through advanced analytics.  Since 2017, he built the global data and analytics organization for Fidelity’s Workplace Investing and Health Care business units and is currently leading efforts to modernize servicing and operations through applied artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and digital workforce management.  Todd’s responsibilities include artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, analytics/business intelligence, data services, personalization and customer insights.  Additionally, he serves on cross-firm leadership councils for artificial intelligence and data management.

Since joining Fidelity in 2007, Todd has held a range of senior leadership positions.  He was the Senior Vice President of Workplace Solutions Performance Solutions from 2014-2017 where he restructured and consolidated two business units, overseeing a dramatic improvement in operating performance while managing a significant increase in services and demand.  From 2013-2014, Todd was asked to lead the strategic realignment of Fidelity’s Workplace Investing business.  In this capacity, he set and executed a strategy that significantly enhanced marketplace competitiveness and scale for a large business comprised of 10,000 employees, 29 million B2C customers, and 20,000 B2B clients.  As the Senior Vice President of Business Consulting from 2011-2013, he led the enterprise strategy group supporting Fidelity’s 401k, pension, healthcare, and stock plan businesses.  From 2007-2011, Todd was the Vice President of Enterprise Operations.

Prior to Fidelity, Todd held a variety of technology and business unit leadership roles.  From 2003-2007, Todd served as the lead for a strategy consulting practice at Deloitte, leading strategic engagements with global Fortune 500 and government clients.  Frequently sought out to address complex and high-profile business problems, he co-led one of the most complex U.S. Government reorganizations in history, orchestrating the post-merger integration of IT capabilities across the newly formed $50B, 200,000 employee U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  As a Director at Resource Consultants, Inc. from 2002-2003, he built and led a technology services business unit while also overseeing corporate IT for the $300M services firm.  Prior to his business career, Todd was an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard where he held leadership roles in IT, information security, and shipboard operations.

Todd received his B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, and MBA from the College of William and Mary.

Todd lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and two sons.
